Hey everyone, For anyone who may be interested: This is a tad late, but on Tues evening, I was birding the dike at Kiep's Island in Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. Like I usually do, I scanned the impoundment on the east side of the dike, expecting to come up empty. I was surprised to find not one, but TWO Western Grebes. One of them was much too far away for photos, but the other was somewhat closer and in a raft of Redhead and Ruddy Ducks and I managed to get a few identifiable photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/swallowtailphoto/7164215941/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/swallowtailphoto/7164215823/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/swallowtailphoto/7164215735/in/photostream Happy Birding! --Chris W, Richland County Interpretive Naturalist Mississippi Explorer Cruises http://mississippiexplorer.com/chris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://swallowtailedkite.blogspot.com/ http://www.nabirding.com/http://www.flickr.com/photos/swallowtailphoto "The beauty and genius of a work of art may be reconceived, though its first material expression be destroyed; a vanished harmony may yet again inspire the composer; but when the last individual of a race of living things breathes no more, another heaven and another earth must pass before such a one can be again."
