     There is an immature Bald Eagle in the Figure 8 dike system at Vernon 
Marsh.  Hopefully it just fledged there and will return in future years.  A 
pair of Eagles has been seen by locals regularly all summer and perhaps this is 
the result.  Also there are still some shorebirds in the second lagoon 
mudflats, mostly Yellowlegs and Solitarys but perhaps some "peeps" and 
Pectorals seen in flight.
     
     The Figure 8 dike system closes at the end of August until December 1st.  
Greenwing Dike and Benson remain open however.
