[wisb] Tuesday gleanings

The daily morning Pike Lake walk didn't turn up a whole lot today. Only 2
warblers- y-rump and palm, but 5 towhees were nice. Watched as they
consumed grapes, along with white-throats and cedar waxwings; never a
shortage of those this Fall. Still not a lot of white-crowneds and haven't
got my first fox sparrow yet. The lake itself still hasn't received its
waterfowl in any numbers. No divers at all. Two Bonaparte's gulls were new
for the season. And one more thing. This weekend during the Big Sit I
nailed down the flight calls of purple finch (thanks Noel). Today that call
was heard again at Pike. Seen quite a few it seems this year. And even
better, had a pair eating sunflower when I got home.
