Hello again- My girlfriend Anya Illes and I walked Spring Green in the cold today for a bit in the afternoon. We were happy to find a (the) PAIR of NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS. They were both at the fencerow that bisects the preserve, on both sides (north and south) of the path. Other birds of note were LARK SPARROW, GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, and absence of dickcissel. It was generally fairly cold and quiet. A highlight was discovering some funny parallel lines in the sand and figuring out that they were the marks made by the wings of displaying tom turkeys. Earlier we had Louisiana Waterthrush and at least two Cerulean Warblers at Gov. Dodge State Park on a slow drive through. We didn't hear any Henslow's there, but this was probably due to cold weather, I'd think. And last night, we still had woodcock displaying at a site not far from Dodgeville.
