I also viewed two chicks--adorable! Additionally, numerous Red-winged Blackbird fledglings were calling and being fed. Males buzzed low right above my head a few times, so watch out! I will post photos on a blog later on and forward that link. Here are Rita's directions: An entrance to Sheridan is from Layton Avenue, when you continue east on Layton it turns into War Memorial Drive (or something like that) and ends at a Statue of Patrick Cudahy (a T intersection). Turn north (left) from there and park next to a small pond right next to the street on your right. There are usually a lot of people fishing there and sometimes people have those miniature motorized boats there too. The north end of the pond has a bunch of reads with loud red winged black birds. Walk past the first set of reeds to the second set (going east). It is in the second set of reeds (northeast side of the pond) that the soras are hanging around and if you approach cautiously you might find them in the lawn. Have a good day, Jennifer Ambrose Milwaukee County --- On Sat, 6/25/11, jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [wisb] Out-of-Office Reply To: wisbirdn@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Saturday, June 25, 2011, 5:08 AM I will be out of the office between 6/25-7/4.
