[wisb] Re: Red-throated Loon movement today

All that could be seen well enough to assess plumage features were still in
basic/winter plumage, including the 4+ individuals that were seen on the water.
A good number of the northbound birds in flight were relatively close by Great
Lakes standards and the white face and neck, small dark crown, and upturned
bill could be seen, in addition to structural features and flight styles. If
someone had sat on the lakeshore at Harrington or Two Rivers/Manitowoc, they
would have counted a few hundred throughout the day without doubt. It was a
real treat. There was also a nice but much more distant flight of Long-tailed
Ducks.

Re: the kittiwake, Tim Oksiuta saw and photographed it at its normal haunt on
Friday morning so it was present until at least then.

Many thanks to everyone who attended the field trip. Despite very windy
conditions it was a great time.
