I got a call from Paul Schilke who is sorting through a nice mix of a few hundred gulls at the Prairie du Sac dam (Sauk County). He has seen a young Glaucous and Thayers Gull and a young Thayers/Iceland in the flock so far but perhaps of most interest is a dark-mantled pink-footed gull. It has spent a lot of time sitting on the ice and when he has seen it fly he noted subterminal spots on the primaries. He also indicated that the bird is fairly lightly streaked on the head and comparable in size to nearby Herring Gulls. However, he does not have a camera so if anybody with a camera can get over there this afternoon to photograph this gull they may want to do so.
