On Sunday a singing Northern Mockingbird appeared in the Town of Grafton, Ozaukee County. Carl Schwartz and I enjoyed the bird in the mist following morning rains early afternoon on Tuesday. The bird is located at Marjie Tomter's Walkabout Farm at 1097 Lake Shore Road (west side of road), which is near Lake Michigan. Visitors are welcome to visit and wait to hear/see the bird. Yesterday, it flew in from the east and visited the front yard to feed on arrowwood viburnum fruit left from last year. This small shrub is located between a blooming redbud and a flowering red-leaved cherry. Please drive up the driveway SLOWLY and park on the west side of the house. Carl and I just sat on the front concrete steps and waited for about 20 minutes for the bird to show. It then retreated eastward, sang for a short while, and then perched silently until we left.
