I birded the Milwaukee lakefront from the Texas Overlook north to Lake Park today. The South Shore Yacht Club harbor was definitely the happening place. Hundreds and hundreds of gulls and ducks. In addition to the expected species, I saw many Common and Red-Necked Mergansers, a White-Winged Scoter, a Glaucous Gull, and a Lesser Black-Backed Gull. Lakeshore State Park and Bradford Beach/Lake Park had many ducks, but nothing special. I could not find the Long-Tailed Duck at LSP that has been reported recently. McKinley Marina was absolutely dead, not a gull in sight, to my surprise. Last year at this time it was a big gull gathering spot. Coming home, I spotted a Peregrine Falcon giving a flock of Rock Pigeons hell on 12th and North, and as I pulled into my driveway a Cooper's Hawk flew across in front of me and over my yard. Merry Christmas to all! Jym Mooney, Milwaukee #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
