Actually Nancy, Sarah & I must have just missed you! But we had five Snowy Owls at the Oconto Harbor. Four were out on the rock breakwater, and one on a telephone pole along the causeway drive. I got some nice close pics as we literally drove under the bird. So we decided to make it a Snow day, and headed to the mouth of the Fox River at Green Bay. I found one more Snowy Owl in the marina to the north of the park, near a concrete barricade. Tough to see, as you cannot get inside the fence around the marina. We also tallied two nice Rough Legged Hawks, and a immature Bald Eagle in Oconto Marsh. And topped it off with a Northern Shrike along the frontage road to I-43 on the west side of the Leo Frigo Bridge. As far as the other two, one was on the northern breakwall (near the middle) that separates the Bay from the boat slips that are on the north side of Bay Beach Rd. The other was on the NW corner of Renard Island. It was visible (with a scope), from the parking area near the boat slips. At the harbor in Oconto, there were four SNOWY OWLS on the breakwall at 9:30a this morning. Also, two SNOW BUNTINGS were seen on the breakwall. In the harbor were 15+ HORNED GREBE, three HOODED MERGANSERS, and one CANVASBACK. From the causeway, looking north, there were 30+ SWANS and large rafts containing hundreds of RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, a few COMMON MERGANSERS, GOLDENEYE, SCAUP, and BUFFLEHEAD. Lastly, four ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS and one NORTHERN SHRIKE were seen in the Oconto Marsh, just north of the harbor on County Y.
