Checking out the mouth of the Fox River at Green Bay, there still are 40+ Bald Eagles. There is limited open water. However still present were the Great Blue Heron, White Pelican, 8 cormorants, and 5+ Lesser Scaup plus standard fare. But new to me here, and for the year, were 2 Shovelers (male and female), 1 Ring-necked Duck and 2 Coots. At Menasha (Jefferson Park and James Is.) there are several thousand gulls. Impressive sight, although 99.9% are Herring. I did find 10 Glaucous and 1 Lesser Black-backed however. Also at Jefferson Park were 3 Ruddy Ducks (females), 1 Hooded Merganser (male) and a Mute Swan. If anything, the gull number has increased from last week. There apparently is good food for them and probably will continue attracting them for some time.
