[wisb] Glacial Drumlin Trail near Rock Lake and assorted ramblings (Jefferson Co.)

Hi all,

I am still in the process of auditioning local woodlots as my warbler
patch. Today the Glacial Drumlin Bike Trail across the south end of
Rock Lake in Lake Mills had some decent birds.

While scanning the gulls on the lake for a vagrant Franklin's or a much,
much more unlikely Long-Tailed Jaeger I did pick up my best bird of the
day a flyover, southbound SANDERLING.

Warblers--a strange mix:
8 Tennessee
2 Cape May
2 Blackpolls
1 Nashville

Vireos:
Yellow-throated
Red-eyed
Warbling

Backyard Warblers:
Black-and-White
Magnolia

Unrelated items:

I just saw that a Long-tailed Jaeger was spotted on Van Wagners Beach in
Ontario (on Lake Ontario). This is just a bit further north
(latitude-wise) than Milwaukee. The structure of Wisconsin's Lake
Michigan shoreline is not ideal for spotting jaegers, but I suspect few
of us are conducting lake watches in late August. I know it is a a real
boom or bust proposition, with the odds greatly in favor of the latter.
Scoping from Wind Point in Racine, Sheridan Park in Cudahy or North
Point in either Milwaukee or Sheboygan could be productive on a day with
strong northeast winds. A weekend trip up to Wisconsin Point in
Superior this time of year could be really interesting.

Jefferson Marsh--Has anyone hiked this area (I am especially interested
in the woodlots or tamaracks)? What is the best access point? How well
are the trails maintained? Are the best woodlots inaccessible in the
warmer months? Please reply to me back-channel and thanks!
