I'm not sure what time you got to Alvin, Carl, but I just thought I'd note that
for me the best time to see the evening grosbeaks is early in the morning (dawn
is best), as their name suggests (oh wait, no). The first year I kept trying
in the afternoon without luck, and although one of the residents told me they
come in the morning and then do sometimes sweep back in for another feeding
before bed, they didn't while I was there. Instead they were there in the AM
and as they day went on they seem to disperse to the point that none were left
by afternoon.

For anyone interested, here also is a video I took while we encountered the
boreal chickadees. You can hear both black-capped and boreal chickadees
calling here (headphones might help). I have a feeling there may have been a
predator around as they sound somewhat agitated. But I never did see any owl
or hawk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyXO-hKY1Yg
