Late today birds flocked to the west side of the park meadow. Purple Finches, White Caps and a FOY Veery. Found more White Caps at the Audobon Center. All birds were eating like it was their last meal. Maybe the upcoming front makes us all hungry! Hundreds of Tree Swallows and Barn Swallows have been dining on airborne insects for days, rain or shine; at Mequon's Virmond Park and at the meadow south of Concordia. A Red Winged Blackbird was so agitated at a hunting Red Tail Hawk that he gave up diving and pecking at him...and rode his back for a several yards. The hawk took little notice.
