Hello, Con & I toured BVG in Portage Co. today between 2p.m. & 4p.m.
We picked up a road Shrike at mile marker 133 on I-39 (east side) on the
way. (Waushara Co.).
Birding was a little slow, perhaps due to the time of day and/or nice
weather?
We got a second Shrike on Swamp Rd. a quarter mile east of Elm Rd. (it was
there on a second pass over an hr. later). We had 3 Snow Buntings at the
intersection of Lake & Townline Rds.
Lake had quite a few Horned Larks, and 2 Am. Tree Sparrows. Mill street had
3 Ravens, a Kestral & a Pileated Woodpecker. County Rd W & Townline Rd we
saw a light phased Rough Legged Hawk.
We whiffed on Chickens & Snowy Owls.
A word of warning to those going tomorrow...the gravel & dirt roads are
extremely mucky. My truck has gunk up past the door handles & the driving
was greasy on the non-asphalt roads.
