Dave and all, Actually, I too have been seeing more Dickcissels than usual. As with Bobolinks earlier this spring, I am seeing them in almost every field I stop at. Especially in the Spring Green area, I normally find Dickcissels only at Spring Green Preserve. This year, they are present in every roadside ditch in the entire valley. On my way through Iowa and Grant Counties on my way to work, I can't even stop at a stop sign without hearing them. The other bird that appears to be in more abundance, especially in terms of range, this year is Eurasian Collared-dove. I reported one in Montfort last week, but have seen them in Hazel Green, Cuba City and a couple other towns since then. (also, as a side note, I've seen many more reports of Neotropic Cormorant from southern IA this year than usual. They're steadily heading our way!)
