Spent part of the morning at Baxter's Hollow and Spring Green. I also checked out the Hwy JJ area west of Spring Green. At Baxter's a Broad-winged Hawk was in the trees on the way in. The place was lousy with Ovenbirds and almost as many Rose-br. Grosbeaks. 2 Louisiana Waterthrushes were by the first bridge. About half way up the Hooded and Canada Warblers sang. A Pileated WP flew across the road. On the way back down I heard the Worm-eating Warbler near the first bridge. However there are Chipping Sparrows also in this area so one needs to be careful. Spring Green had several Lark Sparrows, 1 cooperative Grasshopper Sparrow, a male Orchard Oriole and Scarlet Tanager in the tree by the kiosk and the singing Mockingbird (way to the east), plus other standard birds. (A Lark Sparrow was also seen on Block Rd going west from PF. The JJ area had 2 teal (but not the Cinnamon), Wilson's Phalarope, several Gr. Yellowlegs. Wangness Rd on the east end had Le. Yellowlegs, Least Sandpipers, 1 Short-billed Dowitcher, and at least 10 Am. Pipits---all close to the road.
