[wisb] Ashland CBC highlights

The Ashland CBC was held on Sunday 12/19. Good weather but almost no open water
within the circle. 34 species overall with nothing especially unexpected.
Highlights below:

*Only waterbirds were 18 Mallards, 5 Common Goldeneye, and 2 Herring Gulls!
Missed American Black Duck for the first time in decades.
*1 Merlin in town, pretty much annual
*1 Red-bellied Woodpecker -- an unprecedented number (6+) are currently being
seen at feeders within 30 miles of Ashland
*8 Northern Shrikes - a fairly average year for this species
*Only 4 American Robins, far less then other recent years
*Only 22 Bohemian Waxwings and 0 Cedars, the former surprisingly low given
their good status this year and the latter an unusual miss in recent years
*341 Snow Buntings -- It's not unusual to find small numbers in winter here but
I had a single flock of 325, which was most welcome!
*Winter finches = 10 Pine Grosbeaks, 193 Common Redpolls, 1 Pine Siskin, 106
American Goldfinches, 0 Purple Finches, 0 White-winged Crossbills, and 8
Evening Grosbeaks.
