[wisb] Appleton detention pond-5/19/12

Took my boys for a walk around the detention pond across the road.
 Interestingly, a female Canvasback is present. She did not seem willing to
fly, but otherwise acted normally.  Also present were two drake Northern
Shovelers, which were something unusual to show my children.  Between the
two ponds there is a small, but very attractive shorebird habitat, which
had three species present (plus the Shovelers) and is always a good spot to
watch.  It is easily seen from Eisenhower Rd. should you be passing by.
