I checked out the Anderson sod farm in Winnebago county this
morning. It is located along Winnegamie Rd, west of Hwy 76. There
is excellent habitat for shorebirds, especially near the west end---
and also way back to the south. There were 7 species present
including 60 Killdeer, 15 Lesser Yellowlegs, 15 Least Sandpipers, 5
Semip. Sandpipers, 3 Solitary Sandpipers, 1 Pectoral Sandpiper and a
Semip. Plover. This should be checked for the next month or so,
especially if the habitat holds as it might produce Buff-breasted
Sandpipers. They could be starting to migrate south thru the state
at any time from now until mid or late September.
