My friend Tom Prestby kindly pointed out... "Wilson's Snipe! :)"
So that's 52 WILSON'S SNIPE not Common Snipe. Obviously I am challenged to
keep up with all these semantic changes. At 40-something I'm already
starting to blame these snafus on my aging brain.

Subject: [wisb] Am. Golden Plover, Shorebirds, Waterfowl Jefferson Co.
Both today and yesterday I found a flock of AM. GOLDEN PLOVER in the flooded
fields off Hwy 106 north of Island Rd. near Palmyra. Yesterday's flock
which I counted each individually was 20, today it was 30 (Darn I think I
have to submit documentation since there are only 2 earlier records). Also
had a few GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, few PECTORAL SANDPIPERS
and 52! COMMON SNIPE. Other bird highlights include: BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 1
BLUE MORPH SNOW GOOSE, TUNDRA SWANS, SANDHILL CRANES, GREATER WHITE FRONTED
GEESE and a thousand+ dabblers, mostly Mallards, but a nice assortment of
other ducks as well.
Elsewhere in the county along the Ice Age Trail adjacent to Carlin Trl and
at the Palmyra camp we had singing EASTERN TOWHEES, 2 FOX SPARROWS and a
flock of 22 PINE SISKINS. I looked and listened intently in the pines for
Pine Warbler, but came up empty this run.
Bird on!
