[wisb] 17 shorebird sp., incl. 2 RED KNOTS - Bayfield Co.

Good shorebird day today to wrap up our three-day Chequamegon Bay Birding &
Nature Festival here in Ashland, no doubt our hottest ever. 17+ species
including Black-bellied and Am Golden Plover (1 each), Upland Sands, Ruddy
Turnstones, 2 RED KNOTS in perfect breeding plumage, first White-rumpeds of
year, and a male WILSON'S PHALAROPE, not an annual species here. Very small
numbers, however, because we have little habitat available and that habitat
comes and goes by the hour as lake levels shift.

Current tally stands at 176 species for the event, which is on par with most
years. It wasn't a great warbler day today (hot and windy) but Mourning
Warblers, Alder Flycatchers, and Red-eyed Vireos really seemed to move in last
night.
