I agree with you on this one Chris. For someone to be able to send messages to you, your external security must be pretty lax, or non-existant! Many times have I seen people post the solution to just disable the messenger service - why not fix the problem by beefing up the firewall instead? It's a bit like telling someone to put a bandage over a missing limb! Sure it might stop the bleeding for awhile, but there is still the issue of the missing limb. :) I suggest that Jim should look into getting a firewall as well, or if he's already using one, to get a better one. One that blocks the messenger port (13? I believe).
