By Solid Stick Ink, I assume you're talking about the stuff like what the Xerox (Tektronix) Phasers use? Link to it: http://www.office.xerox.com/cgi-bin/detail.pl?sku=108R00604 We have several Xerox 8200 DTN Phasers in the district, and I absolutely LOVE them. After we did a price breakdown, they were cheaper to run (over time; not initially) than any other printer we were willing to work with. We have not had any of them break down, and they run flawlessly - we've only had 1 jam in 1 printer in the last year of operation (they, admittedly, aren't used extremely heavily, but they do see print jobs every day). The solid stick ink is also much easier to handle and install than toner for end users to take care of... pop open the lid and drop it in. Done! You do need to make sure, however, if you use a Phaser, DO NOT power cycle them - when they warm up, they melt a little bit of the ink, which winds up in the waste bin... we had one location that had printed next to nothing, and ran out of ink... we found it was because they had been power cycling... that wastes the ink quickly! Just leave it on... it will manage the heat inside inself; just trust its judgment on how it should be running. FWIW, I'm thinking about replacing all of our color printers, district wide, with Phasers... they're just incredibly easy to use, I've had no problems with them, they cost little to run, etc. And no, I am in no way affiliated or sponsored by Xerox. I just _really_ like their 8200 DTN Phasers.
