< > values in chevrons are your entries. could you put the following in the login script: net use lpt1: \\zeus\hplaserj /User:<DomainName>\<username> <password> /persistant:no password will be plain text in the script though. you can interchange <DomainName>\<username> with <ComputerName>\<localadmin> <localadminpsswd> this always works for me. You need to give the person access to the Q / share hplaserj dont you??? good luck : ) check out www.robvanderwoude.com for all your batch file needs. -----Original Message----- From: Eduardo Freitas [mailto:eduardofreitas@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 11 September 2003 13:09 To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] net use lpt1 \\zeus\hplaserj /persistent:yes Hi guys... Just wondering if anyone has any clue about that net use problem I was having. I have to get it done quickly as the person that is going to use the machine is going to arrive tomorrow. Im pretty desperate over here! : ( Just so you guys can recall: net use lpt1: \\zeus\hplaserj /persisent:yes I try that as admin it works fine. When I capture on windows 98/95 and point lpt1 to that it also works fine. Problem is when I try as a user in the domain. It asks me for a password and a login and no matter what I try it does not work. I tried with /user and nothing as well... I tried giving writing access to some of the registry but to no avail. Any one knows how can I change the status of the user on the local machine to a local admin? Not on the domain, but on the desktop he is logged in under. Then if it still does not work at least Ill know that the problem must be something in the domain even though it WORKS FOR 95/98 with no problems! :( Thanks for the patience guys! It works, but not perfectly. It's supposed to be better in Win2K3. I was wondering if there is any feature similar to the "synchronize" option on windows xp to keep online files available when the file server is down. Suppose I have a fileserver that all machines map to an user folder so all users files can be easily managed. Now lets suppose that machine. Is there any way to have another server keep the files synchronized with its own and be able to take over so the client could keep working on his files even though the main fileserver is down? Maybe I should just use the synchronize option as it is already there... Any suggestions/experiences are welcome...
