[windows2000] Re: disk full error when using Excel

The folder is empty. I also disabled the real-time scan and still had the
problem. It might be related to the fact that we just updated to version 8.01
of Mcafee. 8.0 has caused major probems with our AD server in that it was
causing it to reboot. We finally just uninstalled it. Maybe is what we have
to do with this server.

Tim,

I had this problem once and tracked it down to my antivirus software. I
stopped the real-time scan and the file saved, no problems from then on. Just
a thought.

That is the first thing we checked. The permissions are setup correctly and as
administrators we get the same message. I am beginning to think this is an
Excel / Word problem. Any other ideas.

Sounds like a permissions problem with the Share.

Users need Change and Read permissions (or Full Control) on the share or they
will not be able to write to the share no mater what NTFS permissions you have
set.

Windows will look at both sets of permissions and give you the least authority
of the two sets of permissions.

I should have indicated that there is 5GB available on the C: drive of this
server and 68GB available on the drive that the share is located. We do not
have any quotas set on the shares. We double checked all permissions and
rebooted the server. As I stated, we can save directly to the folder, but not
the share.

Any other thoughts.

Tim

We are having a problem with one server (w2k) where we get a disk full error
when trying to save an excel file. Yet if we save the file to a different
server it saves fine. One more thing, I can save the file directly to the
directory, but I cannot save it to the share. We have removed the share and
recreated it, checked and verified all permissions, but it still will not work.
We have the same problem with Word.

Any help would be appreciated.

We are using Office 2000.

Thanks,
