[windows2000] Windows 2000 NAS refusing connections

Our Dell Powervault PV775N NAS has started intermittently refusing
connections. When a connection is refused the following warning is entered
in the System log:
Error 2022
The server was unable to find a free connection 7 times in the last 60
seconds.
The number of times varies up and down a bit. All the suggestions I've found
on technet relate to NT4 and suggest setting minfreeconnections and
maxfreeconnections in the registry. These values are already preset (to
higher values than the NT defaults) on this machine. The server doesn't
appear to be excessively busy. Someone recommended uninstalling Mcafee
Netshield but it doesn't seem to have helped.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
