If this were the problem the install wouldn't even begin and he wouldn't get
to the web page. That is of course if Windows Update actually even used an
HTTPS page which it doesn't

I once had a user that couldn't download updates because they didn't
have access through the firewall for "https".  Just a thought

Yes it shows the percentage after you hit the "scan for updates" link,
and then it just comes back to the same page, not displaying any
updates.  Just wondering if anyone has ever seen this happen, where you
can't download updates after it starts trying to scan the computer to
see what updates it needs to download.

I have a user running Windows 2000 that cannot download updates from
Microsoft's website.  I heard it may have something to do with Microsoft
outsourcing their update server traffic to akamai or something like
that.  Any ideas?
