Yeah, thats true... Comparing Linux to Windows is comparing apples to
oranges in a lot of ways.  :)

well, linux itself is just a kernel. it's the brand/package that you're 
using that makes it a complete os. i figure not all packages are created 
equally, so maybe each package might have a different way of doing a task, 
like a file system check.
