[windows2000] RES: Re: Backing up users personal emails

I agree. But what i mean, is that by default pst files are on the client's
workstation. I was thinking about placing them on a central location and
then backing them up locally.

PST files are just files, so back them up with your normal file backup
scheme.

If the two terminal servers that you want to move out of the NT4 domain are
the only Terminal Servers in that domain, then one of them MUST be a license
server. And since you mentioned you want to move them both, I assume that
there will be no Win2K terminal Server remaining in the NT4 domain to act a
License server. Hence no sever to point "back" to... you just moved it.

But, if there is a third terminal server that you are not telling us about
that is going to remain in the NT4 domain, it may be different. But I have
never tried it.

It is fairly trivial to get MS to re-issue the licenses though...

So there is no way to point the W2K server that is being moved into the 2k
domain back to the license server in the NT domain?

Licensing:
In an NT4 domain, the terminal server license server has to be on one of the
terminal servers.

In an AD, the TS License server must be on a DC.

Policies: you may be restricting access to items via system policy (.POL
Files)... these may still work, but GPO's are a much better way to do it.

Other than that, I can't think of any...

Sorry.

2 domains, one NT, one 2000

2 Terminal Servers (W2K) both in the NT domain

I'd like to move one from the NT domain into the 2000 domain. Any
ramifications?

I'm having a hard time understand your question.

You have:

2 Win2k TS Servers in an NT 4 domain.

2 Win2k Servers that are Domain Controllers(DCs)

1 Win2k Server that is not part of a domain but you want to make it a DC

I have two W2K Terminal Servers with Metaframe 1.8 in an NT domain. I also
have a new 2000 domain with just two DC's and a few users. What side
affects, ramifications will there be if I move the 2K server into the 2K
domain? Will it still be able to look to the license server which resides in
the NT domain or will users have problems logging in if I move the server
from NT to 2K domain?
