In case anyone was wondering, I solved the problem. Heron's formula to
the rescue...

Sorry for the OT post, but I'm stuck as to where to go to start, besides
the brute force method.

You're going to need to draw this out...

Arbitrary scalene triangle
Angle A = 82.791 deg
Angle B = 20.261 deg
Angle C = 76.949 deg

Segment AB = 8.098
Segment BC = 8.247
Segment AC = 2.878

Arbitrary point in the middle, label it D.

Segment AD = x
Segment CD = 1.7713 * x
Segment BD = 4.88559966 * x

Solve for x...

I'm just looking for a starting point, but if you WANT to solve it, go
ahead... ;-)

TIA,
