Did that now too, and no luck, it is probably a registry key that needs to be turned on, or off, or deleted, or shot.. It is annoying, since it is happening on two different machines in two different locations, with different cards, annoying, and confusing, and I just got new speakers too! I'd be removing the sound card from Device Manager, running RegClean, then setting up the device again. tj TJ Higley That's Power - Christian Rock www.thatspower.org For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. That is what's perplexing, it should be working no problem, except in the Sounds and Audio applet, it displays "no playback device", or "No Audio Device" but when you click on the hardware tab of that same applet, the card shows up, click on properties, "This device is working properly". It should say "This device is working properly, I just don't want you to use it!" This is happening on my test server at work, and at my home. I have used 3 different cards with the same result, so I know it is not a case of the cards being defective. The cards are even different brands.
