I have never done this but here is some info on this topic below.

Hope this helps....

You can extend a volume only if it contains no file system or it is =
formatted using NTFS. You cannot extend volumes formatted using FAT or =

You can extend a simple or extended volume only if the volume was =

You cannot extend a system volume or boot volume.

You can extend simple and spanned volumes on dynamic disks onto a =

If the drive is dynamic, is there any way to extend the primary
partition (where Windows 2k is installed)? I installed Win2k on 4GB and
am running out of space (even though the disk is 36GB). A.-

You also can re-partition a dynamic drive through the disk management =
=3D
=3D3D
interface.

If a drive is dynamic you can use it for fancy things like spanning a =
=3D
=3D3D
single
volume over multiple drives without RAID. It also emans you cannot =3D3D
access it
from anything other than W2K and XP.

Hi list,

I added in 80 GB drive to my computer and when I opened up the MMC and
went to the disk management portion, I got a "initialize disk" wizard
that I don't typically see. I was curious about it, so I let the wizard
do what it wanted to do and went through with the defaults. My new
drive is now a dynamic disk. I never paid attention to any of the
dynamic disk discussion, so I don't know what that means. What does it
mean and should it matter to me? This is my computer at home. My
intentions with this drive are to schedule jobs with ntbackup on my home
server to backup all my data to this new drive in my computer.

Thanks,

Ray at home
