Sounds like he’s dealt too much with win2k workstations and early xp’s in the past. ;-) -- /Sorin From: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Patrick Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 11:28 AM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Re: How often should you reboot your server - Best practice Thanks, We had an over zealous contractor in, who felt that re-booting the servers every week was the best way forward. I have never had to do that in my many years in the industry, and I am yet to see any best practice document that backs that up. My experience is that the servers have a tendency to become flakey after being up for more than forty-some days, with really weird problems just are just plain inconsistent with any trouble-shooting. A reboot solves the problems in 99 cases out of 100. YMMV though. Once a week feels like a tad bit too often to me. You know how servers are, at each reboot there is a risk they won’t come up again. 8-) Better keep the reboots to a minimum is my advice. I have a recommendation of once a week, is that too much? Thanks Pat
