recovery procedure

Subject: [windows2000] How do I restore an Exchange database, from a
Veritas backup tape?

I am trying to restore an Exchange 2000 Server database from backup. As I
think I've mentioned before on this list, I had a couple of HDs fail in a
RAID-5 array, which ruin my ability to recover. I've contacted Microsoft
Tech Support and together with them I have come up with a plan to restore
the Exchange database to a new server (which wasn't being used for anything
anyway). I renamed the new server to the same name as the old server and
did a "SETUP /DisasterRecovery" against the Exchange CD. Exchange is now on
the new box.

That's nice, but I have no clue as to how to restore the Exchange database
from our backup tape. We are using Veritas' Backup Exec version 8.5. I've
gone into it, and used Restore Selection, but now what? How do I know what
to select? How do I tell it where to put it on the new server? I've tried
to figure that out with the dialog box, but have gotten no where.

Help!

Rod

up?! Get this free white paper to understand the real constraints & how to
overcome them. SAVE MONEY by scaling-up rather than buying more servers.
