use network monitor that comes with win2k nt4 etc. this product understands
the payload of each packet and will show DNS traffic.

Subject: [windows2000] Find comps querying DNS and/or WINS server

Hi list,

Does anyone know of a way that I can see where DNS requests are coming
from on our W2K DNS server? What I mean is I would like to watch
requests and see the IP addresses of the computers that are making the
requests. 90% of our computers are hitting one DNS server on our
network, and I need to find the other 10% so that I can switch them over
to the new DNS server also. We also have a 90%/10% split on our new/old
WINS server, so I could also use the info from there if possible.

These queries would be all internal.

Thanks,

Ray at work
