Check your DNS this is what happens if it isn't set up correctly. You
can try to delete the profile so a new one creates also to see if it is
possibly corrupt.

Subject: [windows2000] Desktop does not load
        Hello,

I have a windows 2000 server that will not load to the desktop.
I get to the logon screen and everything loads, but after the preparing
network connections prompt goes away, I am left with the blue desktop
background and a cursor. I am able to use Terminal services to get into
the machine and the exchange service starts (it's and exchange server).
Anyone have any ideas?

        Thanks,

        Paul.
