Again, it all depends on what the requirements are... If it's storage, = then ATA is fine... If it's for large storage (1+ terabytes), SANs is going be better. If the Disk Subsystem will be a bottleneck, then ATA is out of the = question... Right now the fastest ATA drives are 7200RPMs/133mb. = Ultra160 is 15k RPM/160MB (note: it's megabits vs megabytes) Serial ATA will push the transfer rate to 150-180 megabits. Again, it's all dependent on what's being accomplished. You wouldn't use a IDE NAS box for an Exchange/SQL server. But you = could use a NAS (instead of SANs) if you went with a NetApp box.
