To have a backup and be able to get the server back online quickly
should anything happen again.

It will.

We're on a really, really tight budget. Do I need to say more? 8-/

The server is not really a real server but more a workstation on
steroids. Much steroids. 8-)

Anyway, should the server act up again, I'm going to ask for a new
real server. Possibly a Compaq Proliant. We have a proliant ml350
on loan from a well-known pharmaceutical company for running oracle
db and some connected instruments. Really hi-tech. The compaq has
never been down, except for scheduled upgrades of the
pharm-software. It's running nt4 server and is not in any way
connected to the ad, so it's löack of problems just might be
because it's not dealing with AD or something... I'm gripping for
straws...

The burned server seems ok now. I'll monitor it from home.

Happy new year everybody!
