[windows2000] Access from linux to sharepoint

Hi all,
More sharepoint questions:
I got linux to be able to access the sharepoint portal. Viewing works fine in
most of the cases, but linux-users can't add events etc. I can't but assume
this is an authentication problem.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to proceed to get this to work?
