Here is some more information I came across this morning that I thought may 
interest some here.


I thought that some of you who use winamp might find this information useful.

Hereâ?Ts a list (currently updated to reflect the [Winamp] section) of valuable 
references in the WINAMP.INI file for those Winamp users who find mostly 
anything
wrong with their Winamp, well, maybe not

NOTE: Make sure Winamp is closed before attempting to edit this file (using 
Notepad or Wordpad), and save it to the same name upon completing an edit.

NOTE 2: All skin fixes are relevant to classic skins only!

[Winamp] section:

addtolist: Controls a userâ?Ts ability to enqueue files from Windows Explorer. 
Default is 0, off. Additional values are 1, on.

aot: 1 enables always-on-top mode, 0 disables it.

ascb_new: Controls whether the Winamp Clutterbar is displayed, adjacent to the 
built in visualization and play timer. 0=off, 1=on

autoload_eq: If this is set to 1, equalizer presets created for individual 
songs are used upon playback, otherwise this feature is disabled with 0.

autoscrollname: If this option is enabled {=1), Winamp scrolls the name of the 
currently playing song in the Main Window. If the option is disabled, the
display is static.

bifont: If this is set to 0, the font specified by the skin or language pack is 
used, or otherwise a system font. If this is set to 1, a special, skinnable
Winamp font is used. Internalization is disabled if this option is enabled (=1).

check_ft_startup: Checks to see that no other program has hijacked one of 
Winamp's extensions, and if this has occurred, restores the extension to Winamp.

config_extlist: The list of file extensions associated with Winamp (ie. Winamp 
is the default player for these types). Note: This is not the full list of
extensions available via "Prefs > File Types", only the hi-lighted/selected 
ones.

WARNING This is limited by the plugins installed and the native support of said 
plugins to play those formats inputted here.

custom_plfont: Used in conjunction with playlist_custom_font.

cwd: Specifies the current working directory (for Open Files Dialog).

defext: If Winamp is chosen to play a file with an extension unbeknownst to it, 
it will default to this extension. Default is MP3.

disvis: Allows the user to disable built-in visualization when external 
visualization plugins are active (eg. AVS, Milkdrop) 0=off, 1=on.

dropaotfs: "Disable always on top while fullscreen applications are focused" in 
General Preferences

dsize: 1 enables DoubleSize, 0 disables it.

dspplugin_name: Controls the DSP plugin used when a user enables it through the 
DSP tab in the Preferences. Generally, visualization plugins begin with
dsp_*.dll

dspplugin_num: This option controls which mode the current DSP plugin is set 
to, if available.

easymove: 1 enables â?~EasyMoveâ?T which allows you to move Winamp by clicking 
anywhere in its component windows. 0 disables this option.

embedwnd_freesize: Resizable skinned windows are smoothly resized if this 
option is set to 1, otherwise smooth resizing is disabled with 0.

eq_data: Any number between 0 and 63 is acceptable here, for any combination of 
values. 0=+12dB 31=0dB and 63=-12dB.

eqdsize: Allows the equalizer doublesize setting to be linked with that of the 
main window. 0=off, 1=on.

eq_open: The Equalizer window is visible when this equals 1. The only other 
value accepted here is 0, disabled.

eq_ws: If this is enabled (=1), the equalizer docks in windowshade mode. 0 
disables this option.

fixtitles: If this option is set to 0, no updating is performed on titles. If 
this option is set to 1, %20 in titles are converted to spaces. If this option
is set to 2, underscores in titles are converted to spaces. If this option is 
set to 3, both of the above are performed.

hilite: If this is enabled (=1) the corresponding option in 
Preferences/Skins/Classic Skins/Classic Skin Options/â?odim windows titlebars 
when not in focus"
is also enabled. 0 disables this option.

Inet_mode: Defines the connection a user has to the internet.
0=LAN/DSL/Cable, 1=Dial-up Modem, 2=No connection

langpack: The name of the language file, nothing if the default is used.

keeponscreen: keeponscreen=1, This will make sure both "Litestep VWM Compatible 
mode" and "Always on Litestep Virtual Desktops" are unchecked. keeponscreen=2
enables "Litestep VWM mode." keeponscreen=3 enables "Always on LVDs." 
keeponscreen=4 enables both.

last_shortdesc: A description associated with the last URL accessed in the 
Minibrowser ("More" button), used in conjunction with last_shorturl=.

last_shorturl: The last URL accessed in the minibrowser.

mb_open: The minibrowser (Now Playing) is visible when this equals 1. The only 
other value accepted here is 0, disabled.

minimized: 0=full size, 1= minimized to system tray

minst: Allows Winamp to be opened under multiple instances. 0=off, 1=on.

mw_open: Controls whether the Main Window is displayed or not. 0=hidden, 1=shown

newverchk: The current version is checked against what is available at 
winamp.com, and the user is notified if a new version exists if this option is 
set
to 1; otherwise this is disabled with 0.

newverchk2: Anonymous usage statistics are reported to winamp.com if this 
option is set to 1; otherwise this is disabled with 0.

no_visseh: SEH is disabled for visualization plugins if this option is set to 
0. Otherwise exception handling messages appear (=1).

Out_name: Common entries are out_wave.dll (9x/ME) and out_ds.dll (XP)

ospb: Old school playlist buttons. This controls whether the buttons within the 
playlist editor are activated by a click and release, or by two distinct
clicks of the mouse. 0=user must click and then click again to activate button, 
1=user may activate button by simple release of left mouse button.

pan: Controls the balance slider. Any number between â?"127 and 127 is 
acceptable here. â?"127 is 100% left, 0 is center and 127 is 100% right.

parent: Old defunct 1.x setting. See

for details.

pe_fontsize: The size of the font in the playlist editor. Enter a integer here, 
greater than 0. Default is 11.

pe_height_ws: If this is enabled (=1), the playlist editor docks in windowshade 
mode. 0 disables this option.

pe_open: The Playlist Editor is visible when this equals 1. The only other 
value accepted here is 0, disabled.

pilp: The track prior to the active entry in the Winamp playlist upon close 
(eg. if you close wa with track 7509 active, then pilp=7508)

pladv: 0=manual playlist advance, 1=automatic

playlist_custom_font: If custom_plfont is enabled (=1), the specified font is 
used in the playlist editor. Arial is the default font. The font must be 
installed
on your system to function correctly.

playlist_recyclebin: Deleted files are deleted or sent to the recycle bin. 
(Playlist Editor: REM > Remove... > Physically remove selected file(s)"). 
"Recycle
permantly deleted files" in General Preferences.

preamp: Any number between 0 and 63 is acceptable here. 0=+12dB 31=0dB and 
63=-12dB.

prefs_last_page: Last page active when Prefs were closed (uses internal page id 
#)

priority: 0=Idle, 1=Normal, 2=High, 3=Real Time

Proxy: A user defined field in Preferences/General Preferences "(Optional) 
Specify HTTP proxy address: 'Server: port'"

proxyonly80: Controls the setting in Preferences/General Preferences "Use proxy 
only for port 80 URLs." 0=unchecked, 1=checked, 0 is default

randskin: A random skin is selected upon playback of a new song if this is set 
to 1, otherwise is disabled with 0.

RecentURL#: Delete these entries to clear your URL history

RecentURLMB#: The list of recent URLs for the MiniBrowser.

remove_genplug: Removes gen_nomad, if set to 1.

repeat: 1 enables repeat mode, 0 disables it, and causes Winamp to stop once 
the playlist has completed playing.

riol: Instructs Winamp whether to read file metadata on load, play/view, or 
play. Default is 0, read on play or view in playlist editor. Additional settings
are 1, read on load, and 2, read on simply play.

rofiob: This allows the user to select whether multiple files are sorted by 
name on load. 0=off, 1=on.

sa: 0=No built in visualization, 1=Spectrum Analyzer, 2=Oscilloscope

safalloff: Any number between 0 and 4 is acceptable here. 0 is â?oSlowâ?T and 4 
is
â?~Fast.â?T

safire: classic vis > spectrum analyzer, fire style

sa_peak_falloff: Any number between 0 and 4 is acceptable here. 0 is â?oSlowâ?T 
and 4 is â?~Fast.â?T

sa_peaks: Analyzer peaks are visible when this equals 1. Peaks are not visible 
when this equals 0.

saref: 0 = 9fps, 1=18fps, 2=35fps, 3=70fps

shownumsinpl: This allows the user to show or hide the numbers preceding each 
entry in the playlist editor. 0=off, 1=on.

show_prefs: Hides (=0) or shows (=1) the preferences window

shuffle: 1 enables shuffle, 0 disables it and plays the playlist in order

shuffle_morph_rate: Any number between 0 and 50 is acceptable here, as this 
determines the level at which Winamp shuffles your playlist. 0 is â?~Slowâ?T and
50 is â?~Fast.â?T

snap: Allows Winamp components to be docked with one another. 0=off, 1=on.

snaplen: The proximity of two components before they can be docked with one 
another, in pixels. Default is 10.

splash: Controls whethere a leet splash screen of Winamp's Mike the Llama
pops up at startup.

sticon: Controls whether there is a system tray icon for Winamp. 0=off, 1=on.

taskbar: "taskbar=0" makes winamp show in taskbar only, "taskbar=1" = systray 
only, "taskbar=2" = both taskbar & systray, "taskbar=3" = none.

timeleftmode: 1 causes Winamp to display a songâ?Ts playing time as a 
decreasing value dependent on the length left to play in the song. 0 causes 
Winamp to
display this time as an increasing value.

Titlefmt: Returns the title formatting specified by the user 
(Preferences/Titles)

ttips: Controls whether tooltips are displayed in Winampâ?Ts main window. 
0=off, 1=on.

usecursors Allows the user to select whether the Windows default cursors are 
used, or a special set special to Winamp only. Winamp-skinned cursors are 
enabled
with 1, otherwise Windows default cursors are used.

use_eq: Controls whether the equalizer is used. 0=off, 1=on. This setting is 
independent of eqopen=.

useexttitles: Instructs Winamp to use Advanced Title Formatting, using the 
format listed in titlefmt above. 0=off, 1=on.

video_aspectadj: 1 locks the video aspect ratio, 0 frees it.

video_autoclose: This option closes the video window upon completed playback of 
a video file. 0=off, 1=on.

video_autoopen: This option displays the video window upon playback of a video 
file. 0=off, 1=on.

video_auto_fs: Enables autofullscreen for video playback. 0=disabled, 
1=enabled. Note, this setting is only available in winamp.ini, and not via the 
ui.

video_ddraw: Default setting = 1. Used to fallback to DirectDraw Mode when 
hardware overlay is disabled. It is not recommended to change this setting.

video_noss: If this option is enabled, =1, any screensaver is disabled during 
playback of a video file.

video_osd: On-screen display is visible during playback in fullscreen if this 
option is set to 1, otherwise disabled with 0.

video_open: The Video window is visible when this equals 1. The only other 
value accepted here is 0, disabled.

video_overlays: If this option is set to 1 it allows for hardware overlay of 
video.

Video_ratio1 and video_ratio2: Controls the screen size of the scalable area by 
the video window (4:3 and 16:9 for VR1:VR2 respectively are common ratios,
4:3 for TV and 16:9 for widescreen)

video_remove_fs_on_stop: If a video is playing in full screen, this option will 
cause it to be removed after it has finished playback (=1)

video_stopclose: Video playback is halted if the video window is closed, =1.

video_updsize: Resizes the video to fit window, if this option is enabled with 
=1.

video_useratio: If this is set to 1, the custom ratio specified by video_ratio1 
and video_ratio2 is used by the DirectShow filters.

video_vsync: 1 syncs the video playback to the screen refresh rate, 0 disables 
this feature.

video_yv12: YV12 overlay is enabled if this is set to 1. Otherwise it is 
disabled with 0, also disabled by default.

visplugin_autoexec: This controls whether or not Winamp runs with visualization 
on file playback. 0=off, 1=on.

Visplugin_name: Controls the visualization used when a user enables it with 
Control-Shift-K, or through the Visualization tab in the Preferences. Generally,
visualization plugins begin with vis_*.dll

Vis_plugin_num: This option controls which mode the current visualization 
plugin is set to (eg. Within vis_nsfs.dll, 4=Random Intelligent Visualization)

visplugin_priority: The threading priority of Winamp's visualization plugins. 
Acceptable entries are 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4. 0=idle, 2=normal, 4=high.

volume: Any number between 0 and 255 is acceptable here. 255 translates to 100% 
volume in Winamp.

wav_convert: Used with Winamp 5.x's CD Ripping, when outputting files to file 
type WAV (Convert to Format).

wav_do_header: Used with Winamp 5.x's CD Ripping to write a WAV header

wav_ext: Specifies the default WAV extension (*.wav)

whichicon: Allows the user to choose which icon is displayed for Winamp 
associated files. Accepted values range from 0 to 11.

whichicon2: Allows the user to choose which icon is displayed for Winamp 
playlists. Accepted values range from 0 to 11.

windowshade: If this is set to 1, the main window docks in windowshade mode. 
Otherwise, equaling 0, this window appears in full size.

Wx and wy: Controls the placement of the main window. X controls the horizontal 
component of placement, Y the vertical.

Eq_wx and eq_wy: Controls the placement of the equalizer. X controls the 
horizontal component of placement, Y the vertical.

Pe_wx and pe_wy: Controls the placement of the playlist editor. X controls the 
horizontal component of placement, Y the vertical.

Video_wx and video_wy: Controls the placement of the video window. X controls 
the horizontal component of placement, Y the vertical.

Mb_wx and mb_wy: Controls the placement of the media library. X controls the 
horizontal component of placement, Y the vertical.

Pe_width and pe_height: Controls the proportions held by the playlist editor

Mb_width and mb_height: Controls the proportions held by the media library

Video_width and video_height: Controls the proportions held by the video window

Delete any one of these entries along with its corresponding entry to revert a 
particular window back to default.
