Hi folks, I have just received an error when trying to add a W2K Prof. client = system to my domain. The error is: "A domain controller for the domain snowshore could not be = contacted." Clicking help in the error box says: " The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.snowshore Common causes of this error include the following: =20 - The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS. - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to = it's child zone. snowshore . (the root zone)" I have a simple single-site domain. One domain called SNOWSHORE. I = have three AD servers. I DO see some DNS errors in my Event Viewer on my AD master: Source: DNS Event ID 4004 The DNS server was unable to complete directory service=20 enumeration of zone office.snowshore.com. =20 This DNS server is configured to use information obtained from=20 Active Directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone=20 without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly=20 and repeat enumeration of the zone.=20 The event data contains the error.=20 I get one of these for each of my DNS zones. =20 I have recently experienced 2 spontaneous reboots of the AD master = including a reboot just minutes ago. As the system was about to reboot I got a = message=20 that said that the reboot was initiated by the "lsass" process. About 2 weeks back, I did install 2 additional NIC cards so that I could connect the machine to other physical networks so that I handle NIS = clients from those networks (using SFU on this machine too). I do not think = this has caused my problem but I am mentioning it as a curiosity. The reboots = have only happened 2 days ago and just this morning. =20 Any thoughts or words of advice I would appreciate. I would welcome a = way to=20 sanity check DNS and also a way to resolve the master browser hopping = issue. Seems as though my Master Browser keeps hoppping between machines. How = do I make that stay with my AD servers? -Ed ----- To unsubscribe, send a message to win2kforum-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and put "unsubscribe" in the subject of the message.
