Subject: [website-critique] XML Question

Hello,
I'm am trying to learn a bit about databases with XML.

Does anyone know a way to use HTML pages to view XML content without
using ANY external technology, including Java and Perl? If I can't do this,
then Perl/CGI is my next choice, but my hope is that I can use JavaScript in
some way to use XML.

The thing is that I could use SQL, but I don't want to be in a position
where I find a client's web host does not have or will not install SQL,
MySQL or other such, so I want to find some sort of fall-back,
platform-transparent way to do this. So I am hoping to use XML to download
data in manageable chunks to server as the database browser and use minimal
CGI to write to the XML files, if that is absolutely necessary.

I figure the only vulnerability is that the data that the client gets in
the form of the .xml file can be read by a modestly talented hacker, but I
understand that this can be resolved with some encryption, anyway. Or is
this not correct.

    Signed,

    Learning XML On The Fly,
    a.k.a. Vania Smrkovski
