[webproducers] Re: my feedback, was New website

Google is not the only search engine. A lot of companies that only targeted
Google in their SEO have lost all their traffic recently with the changes
Google made to their algorithms. Even Google "looks" at the meta tags -- at
the minimum a good title tag and then verifies the words in the body copy.
Also, when Google lists a site in results, the title tag is displayed -- a
benefits oriented description of the company rather than just the company
name is a good way to direct targeted traffic to your website from the
search engines. Lastly, many of the other search engines not only do look
at meta tags, but they may display your site in the search engine results
using your description tag. Since we don't know exactly how any of the
search engines rank, nor can we count on it because it is subject to change
and is totally out of our control. But, we can ensure that we have made a
sensible website that makes sense, and uses tools that help surfers identify
if they are the target audience and what they can expect when the click
through to your site. Few companies do this well, even those trying to
trick the search engines. The ultimate goal of the search engines is to
achieve just that goal -- to direct the right surfers to the right content.
Hope that helps.
