[webproducers] digital file managment and asset organization

Has anyone seen any good resources or have good ideas for managing  
digital files for a design studio and not just for client and asset  
management but also all the admin and management aspects of the studio.

I'm also curious about new ways to name/store/archive that depart away  
from the desktop metaphor of files and folders and use meta data or  
mabe even passive filing and organizing.
