Also, with such a generic name (HSN) the company probably has perceived
themselves to need to take a strong tack on protecting the use of their
trade name and trademark.  Therefore they have probably retained a legal
entity to take care of this for them and they're just doing their job.

Theoretically, if a company doesn't protect it's trademark/name it might
possibly lose use of that name (from a legal standpoint, I've heard from
lawyers).

I worked for an upstart website once who had contacts with Ford (but no real
agreements) and this website had me post a Ford logo on their site, and Ford
faxed them with a cease and desist letter the next day -- quite amazing.
