I believe the webtrends live product uses client side javascripting to send a
message to a webtrend's server that collects the data. This is a very weak
design as it relies on client side javascript. There are any number of ways it
could break causing the differences between your weblogs and what webtrends is
reporting to you. The advantage is of the live product is real-time reporting,
the disadvantage is lack of reliability.
As a rule of thumb, I never put anything that is mission critical in client
side functions because it is too unreliable. You have no control over the
client that your end-users have. If you need accurate traffic reporting you
are better off switching to the server-side solution unless you need the data
in real-time.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the input guys. The webtrends that's put
up is a live version. From what I understand it's a
javascript that creates a count everytime someone
visits the site, so the way Webtrends is set up, it's
entirely independent of the web logs.
