[webproducers] Re: Web Design/Interactive Design/Web Producer Conferences

Yes, I agree. This is the mecca for all things Interactive, I highly recommend
SXSW Interactive.

I highly recommend SXSW (South by Southwest) here in Austin. I've
attended for 4 years and it never disappoints.

It's not specifically for web producers/project managers - but gives
you a good snapshot of trends and what's going on in the web industry.
In 2009, attendance increased 25% to 11K! There are over 300 panels
and tons of opportunity to network, party and enjoy our wonderful
city. Plus, if you want to stay a bit longer, there's also the Film
and Music conferences to take advantage of as well.

Last but not least, it's the best bargain out there - most tech
conferences run in the thousands for just a few days.
SXSW is about $300 for FIVE days (includes all the parties too!)
depending on when you register.

I recommend planning as early as possible, as this is the most popular
event in Austin each year. It's not too early to get a hotel and
flight for 2010.

One conference I would absolutely not recommend unless you are a
newbie - is the Nielsen Norman Group Usability Week 2009. Very
expensive and very basic info.
