no shouldn't make an impact.  take a look at the document on the WPO site.
also check the website  spider-food.

is this a newly launched site? it can take several weeks to get indexed on
sites. you have to wait until the spiders craw through and read the page
title tag and site content.  meta tags for keywords are ignored by the most
engines now.

also if it's entirely a flash site and has no page titles then it might not
show up.

what's the url?

To clarify...

The site is not password protected. It is accessible to the general public.
It's just not coming up in search engines.

The client built a server and host the site on that server. The server sits
in his office.

I'm wondering if, the fact that a site is hosted on a "private" server, has
any impact on its ability to be picked up by search engines.

Thoughts?
