Take your "salary" e.g., $200,000/yr and make it your hourly rate, e.g.,
$200/hr. Another way is to divide your salary into reasonable billable
hours -- agencies typically bill out 1200-1600 hours a year. Some say that
if you are running your own business, you only have a 1/3 of your time
available for billable hours, but entrepreneurs work 50-60 hours a week.
1/3 billable, 1/3 sales, 1/3 administrative. So, divide your salary by 1/3
the total number of hours you can work in a year. If you are not working
from home, add your office overhead into the salary for a revenue number.
Similarly, if you are incorporated, make a revenue number, and do the math
above. You can also cushion your results with a profit of 10-20% as long as
the number is still feasible in the marketplace.
